Ixora

Common name: Ixora

sunwater

Description

Ixora comprises a few hundred species of shrubs and small trees, all of which are evergreens.

Grows from 1 - 3 metres, depending on the species you buy.
This plant is neat and tidy with shining green leaves, and spectacular flowers in clusters over the summer months. The available colors range from yellow, pink, orange or red.

Ixora has a compact growth habit which makes it suitable for containers or mass planting.

A must in your garden for tropical effects!

Growing

Ixoras prefer indirect sun, and are therefore best kept in a shaded area.

Grow in friable soil and add some sharp sand and leafmould for best results.

Ixoras are frost tender, so shelter and warmth must be provided in cooler areas.
Prune only after flowering and follow up with adequate water and liquid fertilizer.

Cuttings taken in early spring is a successful way to obtain new plants.
